What is Spinal Symmetry?

The basic premise of our approach to diagnosis and treatment is that structure governs function’. Because the human body is a complex system where everything is connected, imbalance in the structure, ie. the skeleton, can upset the functioning of the rest of the body - nerves, ligaments, muscles etc, resulting in pain and other health problems. So to correct the function we first correct the structural problem that is causing it.

Misalignment of the spine can interfere with the exiting nerves and surrounding blood vessels, compromising function and causing pain and inflammation. The pelvis is the foundation for the spine. Much like the foundation of a house, if the pelvis is unbalanced it will result in misalignment of the spine, increasing mechanical stresses and strains to the joints of the spine and limbs - neck, ribs, shoulders, lower back etc.

The Spinal Symmetry approach balances and stabilises any imbalances in the foundation of the spine ie. the hips and pelvis.

Part of this treatment is the Therapeutic Strap, or ‘strapping’, which is like braces to straighten your hips. This is a necessary part of returning your hips, pelvis and the rest of your spine to a state of balance and stability.
